In June 2019 I was fortunate to be one of 12 international artists based in Nairobi, Kenya on an Artists Residency organised by SIM NZ. We worked with the Kenyan Children at Risk Ministry and spent time in Kibera Slum and one of the local boys orphanages learning about their lives of these children and sharing some creative opportunities with them. Our residency included studio time to explore our own ideas in relation to our experiences. When I returned to NZ I made an interactive clay house model based on a home I had been to in Kibera Slum, and visited different groups of children taking about global poverty.
