10years as a full time artist
I live in Rotorua and am lucky to work at home from my beautiful architecturally designed studio in a lovely garden setting. From here I paint, sell, exhibit and teach.
Having been an Artist for the last 10 years, my painting style has moved through different phases, including abstract landscapes, portraits, and more recently combining realistic landscapes, birds and nature.I am hugely influenced by the breathtaking beauty of this world and the inhabitants within it! I am also influenced by my European bloodlines and my view of New Zealand through 'migrant' and 'pakeha' eyes.I like timeless themes and stories and enjoy finding new approaches to create these.
A large part of my work is painting commissioned pieces for homes and businesses. This allows me to work with clients to create a personal and unique artwork that suits thier home/work space and budget. My clients have been worldwide including, UK, Switzerland, Canada, USA, Australia and many in NZ.I also like to exhibit in beautiful gallery spaces and often participate in group exhibitions.
So many things influence me....the world and the people in it, all creation, memories, dreams, stories, life...other artists...Kahlo, Smither, Mucha, Klimt, Rob Powley, Huntervasser, beautiful moments and sad ones...and lots lots more...watch this space!
